Feral Friend #2 - Gilly McArthur

Next up, we'd like to introduce you to the all-swimming, all-climbing Gilly McArthur. Born and bred in Scotland, Gilly now rests her cap in the Lake District. It's not a bad spot for someone who, after years in a corporate career,  is now a passionate advocate for the benefits of climbing, fell running and open-water swimming.

In January, Gilly set herself the challenge of swimming in cold or ice water every day of the month to raise money for the mental health charity, Mind.  Our Jamima hooked up with her for a dip during our own January Daily Dip Challenge

Wild swimming over the winter months is a huge passion of mine - the mental challenge, the total submergence into the present moment and into the belly of Mother Nature - it’s exhilarating.” - Gilly

Gilly is also a Wonderful Wild Women Ambassador and is part of the crew that run the Women's Trad Festival, an annual trad climbing festival in the Peak District.

Gilly's review of our Turtleback outdoor swimming bag:

"The best thing for me about this bag? All of it.

I’ve tried IKEA bags, large shoppers, rucksacks and plastic buckets. Believe me, they all work but have limitations... if you really are a wild swimmer, and want your dry robe to stay dry, your bra and pants to stay shore line and your feet to mud free - this bag is for you.
